Ironic Twist
seeking irony, because sarcasm clashes with my outfit

Does anyone know where I can get a drink at 11:00 a.m. in Patuxent River, MD? Because other than a dirty vodka martini, my only other option seems to be this.

Last night I saw Acid House Kings and The Legends play at DC 9. Opening was a DC band called The Positions, who—with their horns and tambourines and adorable-ness—fit in perfectly with the Swedes. Fans of Cinnamon must check them out.

Thanks to Fritz for reminding me that Acid House Kings are playing at DC 9 tonight (with fellow Swedes The Legends). If it doesn't sell out by the time I get there (which it probably will), I'll be there.
Voxtrot's "Mothers, Sisters, Daughters & Wives" is highlighted in a Slatearticle about this summer's best songs, alongside tracks from Beyoncé, Christina Aguilera and Junior Boys. Go Voxtrot. What's next, air time on Hot 99.5? I did hear Arctic Monkeys and IMA Robot on DC101 recently, so you never know. Speaking of IMA Robot... Their new single "Creeps Me Out"? I like it.
I just found out today that bluestate was one of Wonkette's picks for the weekend: "Way better to have a music blogger DJ than some IDM raver, we guess." Indeed. (I should probably tell you that if you click on the link, you will see naked men doing yoga.)

Saturday's bluestate turnout was fantastic, and there was A LOT of dancing. People danced to pretty much everything we threw at them, from Top 40 pop (Shakira, Nelly Furtado) to Swedish disco (Peter Aries, Le Sport) to Judas Priest. DJ DCSOB did a great job representing Chicago and SOBs world-wide. A girl came dressed in a wig that looked like the Fluxblog logo. I wore very tall shoes and didn't fall. Despite a technical difficulty that left us pretty much without music for almost five minutes, the party stayed alive.
Thanks again to Fluxblog for coming down from NYC to DJ with us, to everyone who tipped our bartender Chad, and to Ms. gl*mrocker for wearing that super hot jumpsuit. I'll try to post setlists by tomorrow morning. In the meantime, photo highlights are posted on the bluestate blog, and all of my photos are here.
This one, while not an official bluestate photo, is one of my favorites from Saturday night:
Fluxblog, DJ DCSOB and Dance Commander Jeff outside of the Black Cat. It's 3:00 a.m. and they're about to sing "Auld Lang Syne" into someone's voicemail.
P.S. Steven, thanks for introducing yourself. I wanted to talk to you, but got intercepted.
